(WWJ) A convicted killer from Detroit has been arrested and charged with murder in the shooting of a Farmington Hills man during a robbery.

Robert Lee Bailey, Jr., 49, was arraigned on murder and other charges in 19th District Court Tuesday, and was remanded to jail without bond.

According to Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy, Bailey is accused in the September, 2020, homicide of a 49-year-old Farmington Hills man.

On Sept. 23, Dearborn Police officers found the victim's lifeless body in a car in an alley on Schlaff St., in the area of Robertson and Barclay.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the man had died of multiple gunshot wounds. Later, an investigation by Dearborn Police found that the victim had been shot in the early morning hours of Sept. 20, near Roemer and Lithgow in Dearborn.

It is alleged, prosecutors say, that Bailey was armed with a handgun when he robbed the victim, fatally shot him and fled the scene.

On December 18, 2020, a warrant request was presented to prosecutors.

Bailey is charged with First Degree Murder, Felony Murder, Armed Robbery, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and four counts of Felony Firearm Second Degree.

Michigan Department of Corrections records show Bailey has an extensive criminal history, with a conviction for second degree murder in 1993 in Wayne County, a conviction for assault of a prison employee in 2006 in Chippewa County, and other crimes.

He will reman behind bars as he awaits his next court appearance, a probable cause conference, scheduled for Feb. 12.

WCPO said further facts and evidence in the case will be disclosed during future court proceedings.
