Couple charged in fatal shooting in Downtown Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) -- A young couple has been formally charged in the shooting death of a 34-year-old Detroit man.

A Friday press release stated that Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged twenty-seven-year-old Ronald Gaskin Anthony and twenty-six-year-old Alana Michele Caver with shooting and killing Akeem Stevens.

According to Detroit Police, officers heard gunshots in the area of West Elizabeth and Clifford Street on May 30, around 2 a.m.

After searching the area, law enforcement found the victim, who had sustained a gunshot wound. Paramedics arrived and later pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Authorities allege that the male suspect, Anthony, fired at the victim multiple times and inflicted a fatal wound. Anthony then fled.

Following an investigation, DPD arrested both suspects on Tuesday, September 20.

Anthony is facing murder charges along with multiple felony weapons charges.

The female suspect, Caver, has been charged with False Report of a Felony.

More information is expected to be shared at the preliminary examination, the date of which has not been released.
