(WWJ) Michigan State University defensive back Khary Crump has been arraigned on a charge of felony assault with a dangerous weapon in connection with the so-called "Brawl at the Big House" after the Michigan-MSU football game.
The dangerous weapon mentioned in the charge was Crump's football helmet.
Court records show Crump's bond was set at $5,000 at his arraignment via Zoom Tuesday morning, before Judge Elisha V. Fink of Ann Arbor's 15th District Court.
The Washtenaw County Prosecutor's Office, meanwhile, said it has started its review of the Oct. 29 fight in the tunnel at Michigan Stadium and that an investigative report from the U of M Police Department has been turned over to Prosecutor Eli Savit.
According to police, two Wolverine players — defensive backs Gemon Green and Ja’Den McBurrows — were involved in physical altercations with multiple Spartan football players after U of M beat MSU 29-7. A total of eight MSU players were suspended indefinitely as a result of the incident.
While seven of those eight have been charged with crimes, Crump — who was caught on video striking Green with his helmet — is the only player who is charged with a felony.
Defensive end Jacoby Windmon, who was also seen in the video, is charged with one count of assault and battery.
Itayvion Brown, Angelo Grose, Justin White, Brandon Wright and Zion Young are all charged with aggravated assault. They were expected to be arraigned on Wednesday.
At this time, no Michigan players are facing charges.
Crump is due back in court for a probable cause conference on Dec. 8.
He faces up to four years in prison if convicted as charged.
