(WWJ) Snuggle in, folks, for what forecasters say will be the coldest stretch of the winter so far in Southeast Michigan.
After a frigid Wednesday night — with temperatures dropping into the mid-teens in Detroit, and single digits in some suburbs — we should not expect a reprieve anytime soon.
AccuWeather Meteorologist Brian Thompson says it will be a "very cold day" Thursday, despite some sunshine, with a high of just 22 degrees during the day, dropping down to a low of 12 degrees or colder overnight.
Temps will come up a little bit into Friday and Saturday, but only into the mid-to-upper 20s for highs, he said.
Metro Detroit will see more of the same on Sunday, with a high that could inch up to around 30 degrees.
Forecasters are keeping an eye on some snow in the forecast for this weekend as well; particularly during the day Sunday, and into Sunday night.
"Potentially some accumulating snow," Thomson said. "Depending on the track of a storm off to our south."
AccuWeather says it will stay on the colder side into next week, before warming up slightly later in the week, with highs possibly reaching into the upper-30s.
