(WWJ) A Delta Air Lines flight from Ft. Lauderdale to metro Detroit was diverted Sunday night after a fist fight broke out on board.
A passenger on Flight 1562, Corey Lesson told WWJ Newsradio 950 that he was in the air, headed home from Florida, when some other passengers on the plane apparently got into an argument.
Things escalated, he said, and punches were thrown.
The flight was then diverted to Atlanta, Georgia.
Lesson said the fight happened several rows behind him, and he didn't know what was going on when the announcement came.
"They didn't really tell us much at first," Lesson said. "We kinda found out more after we landed in Atlanta, but we were told at first that we had to land unexpectedly. That was pretty much what we knew at that point."
An airline spokesperson confirmed to WWJ that two passengers were involved in "an incident" and were met by law enforcement after landing. It's unclear what charges, if any, they may face.
Delta officials did not say what the passengers were fighting about.
The flight later continued on safely to Detroit Metro Airport.
