(WWJ) The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office says a young suspect wanted for the fatal shooting of a 32-year-old man at an apartment complex late Monday has been brought into custody.

The sheriff's office says 18-year-old Stanford Clirteese Sharp, Jr., was arrested in connection with the murder of Antonio Lee Mayes, who was found dead at the Phoenix Place Apartments in Pontiac on Tuesday.

Authorities had said earlier Wednesday they were actively searching for Sharp, who was considered to be armed and dangerous at the time.

Mayes's sister called 911 Tuesday afternoon to report that her 17-year-old daughter’s boyfriend — later identified as Sharp — had shot Mayes at their mother's apartment in the 47000 block of Woodward Ave.

The 17-year-old girl then called to tell her mother, who told deputies she was away at the time of the shooting. She later discovered her son’s body in a bedroom, officials said.

The victim had several gunshot wounds to his torso, according to the OCSO, and spent shell casings were found on the floor outside the bedroom.

Police did not say where Sharp was arrested.

Authorities have not released a possible motive in the shooting.
