(WWJ) -- It's been 10 years since the founding of Detroit City FC, an amateur soccer club.

Now, a decade later, that same team -- and a rabid fan base and supporters group -- are about to embark on their very first season in the USL Championship, the second tier of professional soccer in the U.S.

It's been a journey fueled by supporters, smoke bombs, singing and, of course -- winning.

As the season begins this weekend in San Antonio, WWJ's Zach Clark looks at where "Le Rouge" has come from and where they're headed in this episode of The Daily J.

DCFC kicks off the season Saturday against San Antonio FC at 8:30 p.m., with the game streaming on ESPN+. The club and its supporters are excited to get more exposure with games on a national platform, but members of the Northern Guard Supporters say they have a "f--- you attitude," and they show up at historic Keyworth Stadium whether they're on TV or not.

Manager Trevor James says the atmosphere at Keyworth "will probably shock a few people," and he's not wrong. Go see it for yourself this spring and summer.
