DETROIT (WWJ) – A Detroit firefighter is expected to face charges after an investigation in Macomb County revealed he was selling drugs.
Documents filed in Eastpointe District Court Thursday afternoon show the 49-year-old firefighter is facing one count of delivering and manufacturing a controlled substance.
It was not immediately clear what drug the firefighter is accused of selling, as the court document says the drug was a non-narcotic and excluded marijuana.
He is expected to be arraigned sometime in the coming days on the charge, which stems from activity last month.
WWJ has learned there may be other charges filed in Roseville and Warren.
Detroit Fire Chief James Harris told WWJ’s Ryan Marshall the department is conducting a “thorough investigation.”
He said “we don’t want to jump the gun, but we will do a thorough investigation and get to the bottom of everything.”
Harris said he holds his firefighters to a higher standard and expects them to be role models in the community, but said he couldn’t comment further on the situation.
