DETROIT (WWJ) -- Summer is on its way, but a Detroit summer staple is set to be impacted by the pandemic for a second straight year.
Mayor Mike Duggan says the city’s annual Ford Fireworks Show will go on, but it will be shown only on TV, with no spectators in attendance, as was the case in 2020.
“We’re going to do them on TV again,” Duggan told WWJ’s Jon Hewett when asked about the annual event on Thursday.
There has not been an official announcement from The Parade Company, which puts on the show, known to draw massive crowds to downtown Detroit.
The event was altered in 2020 due to COVID-19 protocols, but was shown on TV.
