DETROIT (WWJ) - A 40-year-old Detroit man was arraigned on one murder charge after police allege he stabbed a homeless woman in the chest and killed her.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced the Second-Degree Murder charge against Pete Jason Lockett on Thursday; Lockett was arraigned and remanded to jail the day before.
According to Detroit police officers, the body of 50-year-old Lizabeth Lambie was discovered the morning of April 18 after authorities were called to a residence in the 9020 block of North Martindale Street in Detroit for a well-being check.
Lambie was found inside the residence with a stab wound to her chest; medics on scene pronounced her dead.
Police allege Lockett attacked Lambie and fatally stabbed her a few days earlier on April 15 before her body was found by authorities on Monday.
Lambie was reported to be homeless by police.
Lockett's Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for April 27 and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for May 3, Worthy's office said.
