
DETROIT (WWJ) - A 44-year-old Detroit man has been charged with murder after police allege he killed his roommate by using blunt force trauma, prosecutors said.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worth announced charges in the case on Tuesday against Corey Stacey Canty, 44, of Detroit in connection to the homicide of John Boble, 43, also of Detroit.
According to the Detroit police, Boble was found inside a home in the 5040 block of Fairview Street on Oct. 10 after officers were dispatched to the residence for a well-being check just before 2 p.m.
The victim was discovered unresponsive and not breathing -- medics pronounced the 43-year-old dead at the scene.
"It is alleged that on October 8, 2022, Defendant Canty killed the defendant with blunt force trauma," Worthy said in a released. "Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant on October 10, 2022."
Canty was charged with one count of Premeditated First-Degree Murder.
The 44-year-old was arraigned and remained to jail on Oct. 12.
Canty is due back in court on Oct. 26 for a probably cause conference, Worthy said.
