Detroit man charged with first degree murder in shooting on I-96

(WWJ) A Detroit man has been charged in connection with a deadly freeway shooting.

David Easterly, 39, has been slapped with a long list of charges, including first degree murder, in the death of Bernard Waller, 32, of Detroit.

Michigan State Police say they were on patrol when they observed an apparent traffic crash on I-96 near Grand River, on Monday around 8:15 p.m.

Troopers found Mr. Waller dead with several gunshot wounds on the WB shoulder of I-96.

On the other side of the freeway, they found Emmanuel Woodward, 28, also dead. Investigators believe a vehicle struck Woodward while he was crossing the freeway.

Easterly has been arraigned on First Degree Murder, Assault with Intent to Murder, Felon in Possession of Firearm, Carrying Concealed Weapon, and three counts of Felony Firearm 2nd Offense.

He is being held without bond. He is due back in court on March 9.
