DETROIT (WWJ) -- A suspect is in custody and several vehicles are wrecked after a high-speed police chase that ended in a crash, Friday morning on Detroit's east side.
Sources told WWJ Newsradio 950's Charlie Langton that the pursuit actually started on the city's west side, near Telegraph and Joy roads.
It ended in the area of Gratiot Ave. and Van Dyke, where the suspect vehicle smashed into two parked vehicles.
All three vehicles involved are being called a total loss, including Anthony Poole's pickup truck. He witnessed the crash.
"I was asleep. just had got off of work. I usually sit in there and eat my little lunch," Poole told Langton. "I have my belongings in there — birth certificate, title, new clothes...all my tools, I do mechanic work. I'm told it's a loss now... I won't be eating breakfast in that truck no more."
A power line also came down at the crash scene, when a vehicle struck a pole.
Langton reported that the man driving the suspect vehicle was wanted in connection with a homicide in the city. He suffered some injuries in the crash, and was taken to a hospital upon his arrest.
The suspect's name and details of the alleged murder were not immediately released, as the investigation is ongoing. Expected charges are pending.
