DETROIT (WWJ) – Police in Detroit are searching for a man and a woman accused of carjacking a man on the city’s west side last month.
A 31-year-old man was sitting in his blue Chevy Malibu in the 4500 block of Allendale Street – near I-96 and Tireman Avenue – around 11:30 p.m. on April 23 when he was approached by the man and woman, according to Detroit police.
The suspects ordered him out of the car at gunpoint and then made him sit in the passenger seat.
The male suspect then jumped in the driver’s seat and drove off with the victim, while the female suspect followed them in a silver Chrysler Town & Country minivan.
Authorities say they drove to a gas station about a mile away on Tireman near Colfax Avenue. Authorities say that’s where the suspects robbed the victim and then let him go.
Police officials didn’t say what the suspects took from the victim.
Authorities say the victim’s vehicle has since been recovered and no injuries were reported during the incident.
Police have released photos of the suspects and are asking anyone who recognizes them to call the Detroit Police Department’s Commercial Auto Theft Unit at 313-596-2555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
