DETROIT (WWJ) – Detroit police are asking for the community’s help in tracking down whoever was responsible for fatally shooting a man sitting in his car last week on the city’s northwest side.
A 51-year-old man was sitting in the driver’s seat of a white 2015 Chevy Silverado pickup truck around 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 30 in the area of Schaefer and Puritan when a black Dodge Durango pulled up and someone inside fired shots at the truck, police said.
The victim was hit by the gunfire and privately taken to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect’s vehicle was last seen fleeing the area eastbound on Puritan.

Police have not released a possible motive in the shooting.
Authorities on Thursday released videos of the suspect’s vehicle the night of the shooting in hopes that someone may recognize the vehicle.
Anyone who has information regarding the shooting is asked to call the Detroit Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 313-596-2260 or Crimes Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
