DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man who has been missing since December.

Authorities say 53-year-old Daniel Charles hasn’t been seen or heard from since around Dec. 1 when he talked to a family member on the phone. He was last seen in the area of Mack Avenue and Mt. Elliott Street on the city’s east side.

Police say Charles is known to frequent the area of Vernor Highway and Clark Avenue in Southwest Detroit.

His family is concerned, though, because they would normally hear from him frequently but have not seen or heard anything from him in about four months.

Police describe Charles as a 53-year-old black male, about 5-foot-8, 140 lbs. with medium brown complexion and black hair. Authorities are not sure what clothes he was wearing when he was last seen, but he does wear glasses and has a speech impediment.

Charles’s physical and mental conditions are unknown, according to police.

Anyone who has seen Daniel Charles or knows of his whereabouts is asked to call the Detroit Police Department’s Seventh Precinct Investigative Unit at 313-596-5740.
