Police searching for missing Detroit woman suffering from mental illness

(WWJ) -- The Detroit Police Department is asking for the community's help as they search for a missing 67-year-old woman.

Police say Sara Garcia was last seen leaving her home at 4 a.m., the morning of Jan. 3, on the 4600 block of Lumley Street on the city's west side.

According to her roommate, Garcia suffers from mental illness.

Garcia is described as a Hispanic female, approximately 5'9" tall and weighing between 160 and 170 lbs. She has light brown hair and brown eyes

Authorities said Garcia was last seen wearing a blue skirt, a black hooded sweatshirt and black sneakers.

Anyone who has any information or has seen this missing person is asked to call the DPD's Fourth Precinct at 313-596-5401. Tipsters can also call 1-800-SPEAK UP (800-773-2587) to report any information anonymously or click here to report online.
