DETROIT (WWJ) – An arrest in an aggravated assault case has led to more than a dozen guns coming off the streets of Detroit.

After Detroit police officers made an arrest for aggravated assault, authorities got a search warrant to search the suspect’s home in the 8100 block of Hendrie, near Gratiot and Van Dyke on the city’s east side.

During a raid of the home officers recovered several guns, including the one used in the alleged assault, as well as ammo.

A photo posted to the Detroit Police Department’s Twitter page on Monday showed 14 firearms, including multiple rifles and handguns, as well as several magazines and two boxes of ammo.

Authorities have not released any information about the alleged aggravated assault that prompted the search.

The suspect, whose name was not released, has been charged with felonious assault, assault with a dangerous weapon and felony firearm. Officials did not say whether any charges will be filed stemming from the raid.

“If you see something, say something,” DPD officials said on Twitter. “Report dangerous and illegal activity by calling 911, 313-267-4600 or 1-800-SPEAK-UP.”
