Loranger resigned his position with the DPD on Oct. 4.

Investigation by the DPD Internal Affairs section revealed that Loranger stole ten ATM debit cards and fraudulently loaded money onto them from a DPD bank account.

He is accused of using these stolen funds for his own self-interest.

It is alleged that from Jan. 14 through Aug. 4, Loranger embezzled over $30,000. Further facts and evidence in the case will be presented in court at the preliminary examination.

He has been charged with one count of embezzlement of $20,000 or more but less than $50,000, one count of using a computer to commit a crime, one count of misconduct in office and 10 counts of possession of stolen financial transaction device, according to the prosecution.

“There is simply no excuse for this alleged behavior," said Worthy. "The evidence will show that this defendant was placed in a position of trust at the Detroit Detention Center- a place where people completely rely on others for their care. This simply cannot be tolerated.”

He was scheduled to be arraigned late Friday morning in the 36th District Court.
