DETROIT (WWJ) – The search is on for the person responsible for shooting a man who was caught in the crossfire on Detroit’s west side last week.

Detroit police officials say it all unfolded around 2:40 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11 in the 15800 block of Coyle – near Puritan Avenue and Greenfield Road – when shots were exchanged between a suspect and a person in a black Kia sedan.

A 31-year-old man was hit in the crossfire, and is being treated for an injury. His condition was not clear Thursday.

Police haven’t released any details about what prompted the shooting, but say the suspect is described as about 35-40 years old, 6-foot-2, 245 lbs., with short, black hair and some facial hair.

He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, red Adidas jogging pants with three white stripes down the side and tan work boots.

Officials say he escaped in a 2009 or 2010 gray Kia Optima.

Authorities released photos of the suspect and vehicle on Thursday. Officials are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect or vehicle or knows something about the shooting to call the Detroit Police Department’s Second Precinct at 313-596-5240 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
