DETROIT (WWJ) – The search is on for a man and woman who are considered to be armed and dangerous after a carjacking on Detroit’s east side last month.
Detroit police officials say a 19-year-old man was walking with the suspects on Mitchell Street near McNichols and Conant at the time of the carjacking.
As they were walking, the male suspect pulled out a gun and demanded the keys to the victim’s black 2010 Ford Fusion, according to police.
Both suspects then got in the car and sped away.
Detroit police haven’t released any further details about the crime or the suspects, including whether they knew the victim or why they were walking together.
Police released photos of the suspects on Monday, showing them inside a gas station.
The man is seen wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt staring directly at the camera, while the woman behind him is wearing a black coat, bright pink pants and a white accessory in her hair.
Authorities are asking anyone who recognizes the suspects or knows something about the carjacking to call the Detroit Police Department’s Commercial Auto Theft Unit at 313-596-2555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
