St. CLAIR COUNTY (WWJ) - A St. Clair Township man is dead after deputies said his car crossed over into oncoming traffic on Tuesday afternoon and crashed into a semi truck.
The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called out to the fatal collision on Range Road around 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 2 in the Township of St. Clair.
Their investigation revealed a 29-year-old man from St. Clair Township was behind the wheel of a 2009 Buick Lucerne traveling north on Range Road when it crossed the centerline.
The car then crashed into an oncoming semi truck heading south.
The 29-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene while the truck driver, identified as a 61-year-old man from Mt. Morris, sustained minor injuries.
The names of the individuals involved have been withheld at this time, pending notification of family members and the ongoing investigation.
Neither drugs or alcohol are considered factors in the crash.
St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol, St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Team, St. Clair Police Department, St. Clair Fire Department, Michigan State Police and Tri-Hospital EMS all assisted at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
