WARREN (WWJ) -- A 23-year-old convicted felon is back behind bars after a multi-kilogram drug, pill and weapon seizure in Roseville Thursday. The DEA says the amount of fentanyl found could kill up to a million people.
Commissioner William Dwyer said the Warren Police Department’s Special Investigation Narcotics Unit (SID) received an anonymous tip regarding a male possibly selling narcotics out of his home.
Upon investigation, SID found that the Roseville resident is a convicted felon who is currently on felony probation for various drug crimes out of Macomb County.
During a search of the suspect’s residence, SID officers seized two kilograms of fentanyl, one kilogram of methamphetamine, approximately 3,500 methamphetamine pills and small amounts of cocaine and heroin. Investigators also seized a narcotic pill press and four firearms, one of which was modified with a fully automatic switch intact.
"Our SID unit actively follows up on information and tips regarding narcotics sellers in Warren and Macomb County," Commissioner Dwyer wrote in a Press Release. "In this particular case, investigators started with one piece of information and turned it into a multi-kilo seizure. The DEA [Drug Enforcement Agency] has said that one kilogram of fentanyl can kill up to 500,000 people."
".... I am confident that this suspect will be facing some serious charges based on this investigation, possibly in the Federal Court System. This arrest should serve as yet another reminder that the Warren Police Department maintains a zero tolerance approach to those suspected of selling illegal drugs in the community.”
The suspect was arrested without incident and taken to the Warren Police Department jail.
Authorities will be in contact with local and Federal prosecutors to determine if this suspect will be charged in State or Federal Court. That decision is expected to be reached early next week.
An investigation continues.
