WYANDOTTE (WWJ) - One man allegedly driving under the influence wound up in custody after he took his vehicle for a ride at a Downriver police station last weekend, authorities said.
The Wyandotte Police Department said on social media that a driver was discovered by officers in the employee lot at the rear of their station off Biddle Ave. around 2 a.m. on Sept. 3.
Officials said the lot has numerous signs indicating it is a restricted area, but the driver. identified as an Allen Park man, drove past them all and ended up at the back of the station.
According to authorities, an officer could smell alcohol coming from the vehicle when they pulled the man over to investigate.
When the officer asked the driver how much he had to drink, cops say the man replied, "enough but not enough."
The man was arrested and WPD revealed the suspect ended up blowing a .21 in booking.
Wyandotte police said the incident, while bizarre, is not an uncommon occurrence.
"You would be amazed at how many drunk drivers have come flying into our parking lot and struck a police or privately owned car," WPD added.
