DUNDEE (WWJ) - Downriver authorities are searching for a man who they say tried to outsmart a Kroger self-checkout in Monroe County and stole almost two dozen cases of energy drinks.
According to the Dundee Police Department, the man's actions were anything but smart as the alleged theft was caught on camera at the Dundee grocery store on Feb. 1.
Police say the suspect wheeled up to the self-checkout counter and scanned one case of energy drinks, despite having 19 other cases in his cart.
The man paid for the one item, but walked out with 20.
Police said the suspect got into a white Jeep with unknown license plates and took off.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, the department added. A photo of the suspect was released in an effort to identify the man.
