PORT HURON (WWJ) - A former youth minister from Kimball Township has been charged with six sex crimes against minors, the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office announced on Friday.
The 27-year-old ex-pastor, Willian Wahl, was arraigned on two second degree counts of criminal sexual conduct, two fourth degree counts of criminal sexual conduct, one count of aggravated indecent exposure, one count of distributing explicit material of children and one count of using a computer to commit a crime.
Wahl was a youth pastor at The River Church during the time of the allegations, which went back as far as 2014. According to a Port Huron Times Herald report, the church's Board of Elders launched an major inquiry when they learned of alleged sexual abuse of children by Wahl.
The board fired the pastor almost immediately and reported him to the police.
Authorities uncovered at least four juvenile victims -- between the ages of 10 and 17 -- that Wahl is accused of sexually assaulting.
Wahl was arrested by police just after midnight on Friday morning.
He is next due to court on Feb. 1.
The Port Huron Times reports that the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department believes there could be other victims of Wahl's alleged abuse. If victims choose to come forward or if anyone believes they are a victim, they are encouraged to call 810-987-1738.
