DETROIT (WWJ) – Two and a half years after his death in Detroit, the family of Will Hagen is still asking for answers.
Detroit police found Hagen’s body in an abandoned home on July 22, 2019 in the area of Livernois and Ridgewood on the city’s west side.
Hagen, a father to four boys, had been shot to death, but police never found the suspect.
Now Crime Stoppers of Michigan is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for anyone that can provide tips that lead to the arrest of his killer.

Hagen’s sister-in-law, Tricia Hagen, said during a press conference Monday that his credit and debit cards and other personal belongings were found next to him when he was murdered, so the family believes it was “personal.” WDIV in Detroit reported investigators found his driver's license at the scene, but the morgue didn't identify his body or notify the family until more than two years later, according to the family.
“The gunman that is still out there, to me, just wanted him dead, if nothing personal was taken from him,” she said.
Hagen’s mother, Phyllis Ostrowski, pleaded for the gunman to turn themselves in, “so his parents, his siblings and his children can have closure.”
“Whoever did this, you know who you are. His murder had been personal because he had been beaten prior to being shot. You know who you are,” she said.
Hagen had lived with his father for two years in Redford, and he had limited contact with the rest of his family, Crime Stoppers said. His son called him “a great father” who loved spending time with his family.
Family members learned he had gotten into a verbal altercation with his father, which prompted him to leave home with a few of his belongings, prior to his death, according to a Crime Stoppers press release.
Hagen attended Flat Rock High School and was employed as foreman of a landscaping company for the past five years prior to his death.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping and his family says he desired to start up his own landscaping business.
Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information that leads to an arrest.
Anyone who has information regarding Hagen’s death is asked to make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP or leave a tip at www.1800speakup.org. All tipsters will remain 100% anonymous.
