What happened to 'Boogie' Burns? Family pleads for tips in case of Ypsi man who disappeared after visiting Detroit area

(WWJ) A Michigan family is again reaching out to the public for tips to help find a Ypsilanti man who's been missing for more than two years.

Crime Stoppers of offering a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information leading the location of Marquise "Boogie" Burns, who disappeared after visiting family members in the Detroit area on March 9, 2021.

Burns is described as a 25-year-old Black male, about 6'2'' tall with collar-length dreadlocks. He was wearing a black jogging suit with black, gray, purple and orange Air Max shoes.

"Marquise is in need of us, OK?" his sister, Tashawn Scott said, at a news conference. "He needs our help, yall! He needs us to come to him ASAP, OK? He's somewhere around, I know it."

The day he went missing, Burns was making the rounds to see family, according to Crime Stoppers, driving an early-2000s gray or silver four-door Dodge Caliber.

Burns began the day with his mother, visiting with her from 10 a.m. until she left for work at around 1 p.m.

Family members said he was headed to Detroit, and was supposed to be back later to take his sister to the store. He later visited another sister in Inkster, and his last contact with family was at 2:52 p.m.

"My mother deserves some peace; she doesn't deserve this," Burns' sister Tiffany Lewis added.

Burns' family and friends, along with a representative for the Wolverine State Search Recovery Team, were scheduled to speak at a news conference on Friday, July 25, 2023, again renewing their plea for help from the community. The news conferee will take place at 9 a.m. at River Rouge Park, on Plymouth Road, in the swimming pool parking lot.
