SAGINAW (WWJ) - A team effort by firefighters and troopers in Saginaw is being credited with saving the life of one little dog after she was located unresponsive inside a home on fire late Thursday evening, authorities said.

Michigan State Police said troopers responded to reports of a house fire on Ring Street around 9:20 p.m. All human residents were safely outside, but the family dog, Delilah, was not.

According to state police, the local fire department arrived and went inside the home, only to find Delilah unconscious near the front door. Troopers immediately jumped to action and brought the dog to their patrol car where she was provided oxygen from their bag-valve mask.

"After giving the dog oxygen for approximately 15 minutes, Delilah regained consciousness and began breathing normally on its own," MSP said of the incident.

Delilah was handed back to her "extremely thankful owners."

Authorities did not say what caused the fire, but no injuries were reported.
