SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) -- Damage assessments are taking place at a Southfield luxury apartment building that was hit by fire twice within a few hours this Monday morning and last night.

Fire trucks from multiple cities responded to a fire at Sutton Place Apartments, near Nine Mile Road and Lahser Road, Monday morning.

Just hours earlier on Sunday evening, the same building broke out in a three-alarm fire.

According to a nearby resident, the building was empty as the apartment complex was working on electrical units.

The extent of the damage to the building is unknown, but the fire did cause a huge hole in the roof and busted out the glass windows, according to WWJ's Ryan Marshall.

No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fires are under investigation by the fire investigation unit.

This complex also had a fire in April 2019, where a nearby townhome was completely destroyed and the fire department said several firefighters were left with minor injuries.

The complex includes two- and three-bedroom units renting from $1,300 to $2,700.
