HOLLY (WWJ) - A man reportedly discharged a round into his leg after police say he was cleaning the weapon at a home in the Holly area on Wednesday.
Michigan State Police said troopers were called out to the home in the 6200 block of around 3:15 p.m. on Jan. 4 after receiving reports of a shooting.
When state police arrived at the scene, they found a man laying on the floor in the downstairs area next to a bed. Troopers then located a .380 handgun nearby.
Emergency personnel provided aid to the man and applied a tourniquet to his injured leg. He was then taken to Ascension Genesys Hospital for further care.
During their investigation, troopers found a spent shell casing a gun magazine next to the bed.
Troopers said a report will be submitted to the prosecutor's office for review.
