DETROIT (WWJ) -- Both directions of I-94 between Mt. Elliott and Van Dyke Avenue in Detroit have reopened after a crash involving a jackknifed tanker.

According to Michigan State Police, the tanker driver "was traveling too fast for the conditions" along eastbound I-94 near Mt. Elliott when he lost control and crashed into the median wall.

The crash damaged the wall and sent debris into the westbound lanes of I-94, police said.

The semi punctured its fuel tank and leaked fuel onto the freeway, leading to the closer of eastbound I-94 for cleanup at the scene.

Westbound I-94 was closed at Van Dyke to clean up the debris which caused a secondary crash, police said. Both directions of the freeway

No injuries were reported.

Other than the diesel fuel, MSP said the truck was not carrying any hazardous materials.
