WEXFORD COUNTY (WWJ) - One Indiana man has died in Northern Michigan after police say he lost control of his snowmobile and crashed on Monday afternoon.
According to troopers from the Michigan State Police Cadillac Post, they responded to the scene on Trail 6 near South 7 Road in South Branch Township around 2:49 p.m. on Dec. 26.
Troopers determined the victim, 55-year-old Greg Longbrake of Elkhart, Indiana, was traveling on a snowmobile westbound on the trail when he lost control and collided with a tree.
While troopers are still investigating the incident, they did say alcohol did not appear to contribute to the crash, but speed is believed to be a factor.
Troopers were assisted on scene by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, South Branch Township Fire Department and the Cherry Grove Township Fire Department.
