
(WWJ) – If you walked outside in Metro Detroit on Wednesday, you were almost instantaneously hit by a wave of heat and humidity.
Cities all over Michigan were approaching or breaking heat records. Wednesday’s 94 degrees in Saginaw set a new mark for the hottest June 15 ever, while 93 degrees in Flint matched the record from 1988.
Schools in Detroit let out early, while they were closed altogether in Dearborn, and communities across the metro were opening cooling centers. In a new edition of The Daily J podcast, WWJ’s Zach Clark sweats out the details and finds out just what’s behind this heatwave.
