(WWJ) Michigan State Police chased down and arrested an alleged kidnapper, rescuing a mother and two children Wednesday on a Detroit-area freeway.
At around 2:15 p.m., Michigan State Police got a 911 call from woman who said she and her kids were been held against their will, traveling in a car along I-96.
The dispatcher was able to get the description of the vehicle before the call dropped.
Metro South troopers located the suspect vehicle on eastbound I-96 near Grand River Ave., and tried to make a traffic stop, The suspect continued driving east on I-96 at low speeds, police said, ignoring signals to pull over.
Several Troopers who were already in the area searching for the vehicle then headed to assist as the pursuit continued.

The suspect took the off-ramp onto westbound I-94; and that's when troopers were able to successfully conduct a "no-contact rolling road block," police said.
The suspect was arrested without incident, and his alleged victims freed, while the other troopers slowed traffic on the freeway.
No one was hurt in the incident.
The suspect, identified as a 28-year-old Canton man, was taken to the Detroit detachment where he was being processed and interviewed, police said.
It was discovered that he has an aggravated assault warrant for domestic violence out of Oakland County, according to MSP. .
Police released dash cam video of the chase, which cuts off before the arrest to protect the privacy of the mother and her kids, MSP said.
The investigation is ongoing.
