SOUTHFEILD (WWJ) - A two-vehicle crash in Southfield led to a pedestrian fatality after a 38-year-old driver got out of his car and was struck by an SUV on Thursday, authorities said.

The fatal incident occurred around 11 p.m. Thursday after authorities said a man driving an SUV was involved in a crash with another vehicle at Telegraph and 8 Mile Road in Oakland County.

The 38-year-old man then got out of his vehicle and was walking along the roadway when he was struck by another SUV.

Authrities said the man was rushed to a local hospital, but died of his injuries.

Officials are working to identify the man so notifications can be made to his family -- at the time of his admittance to the hospital, he was listed as a "John Doe."

The Southfield Police command desk told WWJ they are working to put together the details surrounding the two crashes.

No other information was immediately available, but officials said additional details will be released at a later time.
