(WWJ) A person who died Saturday after falling from Miner's Castle in Michigan's Upper Peninsula has been identified as a 21-year-old Downriver man.
Authorities said Dominic Rotondi of Lincoln Park was visiting the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore with friends, Saturday evening, when he stepped over a barrier and lost his footing. Rotondi fell about 100 feet onto the cliff-face below, then continued falling into Lake Superior.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of death appears to be blunt trauma from striking the cliff-face, according to a news release by the National Park Service.
The National Park Service is investigating the death, along with the Alger County Medical Examiner.
Miner's Castle castle is a popular spot for visitors to Pictured Rocks, located east of Munising and reachable by car.
