INKSTER (WWJ) -- When Michigan State Police stopped a driver for holding up traffic at an intersection, they discovered the man had a loaded pistol -- but no concealed carry license.

Troopers from the Metro South Post pulled over a 2016 Chrysler 200 Friday night just after 9 p.m. The vehicle was impeding traffic at Pine St. and Henry St. -- located near Inkster Rd and Annapolis.

Searching the car, officers found a loaded Glock 40 caliber pistol in a bag on the back seat.

The driver -- a 37-year-old Detroit man -- did not have a concealed pistol license (CPL). He was arrested and the weapon confiscated.

Why the suspect was stopped in the intersection is not currently known.

Prosecutors will review the case. In the meantime, the man remains in custody.
