Man accused of shooting driver in Detroit while walking dog, kids on sidewalk [VIDEO]

DETROIT (WWJ) – Detroit police are asking for tips identifying a suspect accused of shooting a man on Detroit’s east side while walking a dog with young children.

The shooting happened around 4:15 p.m. on Friday, April 28 in the area of McClelland and Shoemaker, near I-94 and Gratiot.

Detroit police on Tuesday released video of a man walking a rottweiler alongside two kids. Officials say after leaving the frame of the video, the suspect fired shots in the area.

Video then shows the suspect, kids and dog running back in the other direction.

A 53-year-old man was hit inside a Nissan Rogue while he was stopped in traffic, according to police. He was treated at the hospital for his injuries.

Authorities have not said what led to the shooting or whether the 53-year-old man was the intended target.

The suspect was wearing a black jacket, white pants, and black shoes, according to police.
