MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) – A 19-year-old has been charged with two felonies in connection with the discovery of a woman’s body in a pickup truck after a crash in Roseville last week.

Stephen Freeman was arraigned Tuesday in 39th District Court on one count of receiving and concealing a body and one count of concealing the death of an individual, both five-year felonies. Bond was set at $75,000 and he was ordered to wear a GPS tether if released.

Authorities are still investigating what led to the death of 62-year-old Gabriele Seitz of Shelby Township. Evidence is being tested and an examination of the body is underway, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.

While the cause of death has not been determined, authorities are considering Freeman to be a person of interest in her death.

Authorities have not disclosed whether Freeman and Seitz knew each other prior to her death.

Police responded to the scene of a crash near Common and Hayes near the Roseville-Warren border around noon last Thursday. Freeman allegedly fled the scene on foot after the crash.

While police were investigating they found Seitz’s body inside the truck, which was owned by Seitz. Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido told WWJ her body was wrapped in sheets with a shoelace around her throat.

Freeman was found sleeping in the backseat of a car that didn't belong to him, according to Lucido.

Lucido said officials can’t say much else about the case, as it is still under investigation.

He noted "other individuals of interest" are being questioned in relation to the case.

Freeman is scheduled for a probable cause hearing on Nov. 9.
