HURON TWP. (WWJ) -- An 18-year-old has been charged in connection with the "suspicious" package found earlier this week at a Wayne County high school.
On Tuesday, at approximately 9:24 a.m., police officers were dispatched to Summit High School in Huron Township for a backpack that was found containing marijuana, an airsoft gun, a knife and alcohol.
Upon their arrival, officers were advised that the backpack allegedly belonged to Ra'kai Joshua Edmonds, of Taylor.
On Friday, Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Edmonds.
Edmonds was charged with one count of possession of marijuana on school property, one count of possession of an automatic weapon and one count of possession of a weapon in a weapon-free school zone.
He was arraigned yesterday and given a $20,000/10% bond with a GPS tether.
He is to have no contact with Summit High School and he also can't have any drugs or alcohol.
His probable cause conference is scheduled for June 1.
