PONTIAC (WWJ) -- A Detroit man who allegedly sexually assaulted an 18-year-old female patient at a Pontiac hospital is now behind bars.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said 56-year-old Kevin Darcell Blanks turned himself in to the OCSO Fugitive Apprehension Team around 8 p.m. Thursday.

It's alleged crime occurred early in the morning of July 14, as Blanks was working at Pontiac General Hospital as a night-shift technician on the psychiatric floor.

Other hospital staffers called police as soon as they learned of the assault on the young psychiatric patient, but Blanks fled before police arrived.

Blanks, who is charged with three felony counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, has since been fired from his job at the hospital.

The judge said during Blanks’ arraignment in 50th District Court Friday that the victim was incapacitated.

“That a person who is receiving mental health services would be violated by someone charged with her care is disgusting,” Sheriff Michael Bouchard said, in a statement.

Blanks was ordered held in the Oakland County Jail on a $50,000 cash/surety bond as he awaits a probable cause conference set for Aug. 9.

Each of the three counts against Blanks is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
