HURON TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- Michigan State Police are investigating a tragic incident along I-275 in Huron Township after a pedestrian was struck by a car and killed.
Troopers were dispatched at 10:20 p.m. on Monday after receiving calls about a person on the freeway.
When they arrived on the scene, police saw two men walking away from a vehicle. Troopers told the men to stop, but neither listened and continued walking away.
One of the men finally complied and was brought back to his vehicle after being identified.
Troopers then tried to find the second man, and about a quarter mile down the freeway, they discovered vehicle debris in the road and a car parked on the shoulder.
The woman who had been driving the parked car informed police that she believed she had hit someone, and the body of a man was found lying in the road near the debris.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
