(WWJ) An investigation underway in Washtenaw County after a domestic dispute ended with one person dead, and another hospitalized.

According to the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office, a 40-year-old man shot and killed himself after shooting his fiancée multiple times, early Tuesday morning at a home in Superior Township.

It happened at around 12:30 a.m., in the 9800 block of Highmeadow Drive, near Geddes Road, northeast of Ypsilanti.

Later in the morning, the fiancée — identified as a 39-year-old woman — was still alive, officials said. She called a family member after the shooting, the family member called 911, and deputies responded.

The woman is being treated at a local hospital where her current condition is unknown.

The sheriff's office said the couple's 1-year-old child was in the home when the shooting happened, but the child was found unharmed.

At this time there is no information about events leading up to the shooting, as the investigation is ongoing.

No names have been released.
