PONTIAC (WWJ) – The Oakland County Sheriff's Department is offering a $1,000 reward for information about a suspect wanted for setting another man on fire.

Sheriff Mike Bouchard says the 65-year old victim was burned badly last Friday along Huron Street in Pontiac.

The suspect has extensive burns to his arms, leg and chest and is in “very difficult straits” in the hospital, Bouchard said.

The name of the suspect is Brian Upshaw, and officials say the incident stemmed from some sort of dispute over money.

“This individual apparently had been in a discussion or an argument with our suspect over some kind of debt that in the suspect’s mind, apparently the remedy was to light this man on fire,” Bouchard said during a press conference Monday

Anyone with information should call the Oakland County Sheriff's Department or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP.
