Man shot by stranger who tapped on his car window: police

(WWJ) Detroit police are searching for an unknown gunman after a shooting over the weekend on the city's west side.

The 22-year-old victim told police it happened in the area of Manor and Tireman, at around 10:45 p.m. Saturday.

The victim said he was at a stop in his 2013 Chrysler 300 when a man he didn't know walked up to his car and tapped on the window.

As the victim started to drive away, the suspect fired a gunshot into the victim’s car, wounding him.

The victim then drove to a gas station in the 15400 block of Joy Road where he called 911 , and from there was taken to a local hospital. He as listed in stable condition.

Police said the circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated, and the details could change pending further investigation.

There is no description of the suspect at this time.
