A police investigation stretches from Detroit's west to east side after police were called to McNichols and Ward Sunday night -- where five people were shot.
Bizarrely, two cars also crashed at the scene, killing one man.
And then during the investigation -- around 3:30 this morning -- a man drove through the crime scene, hit an officer and fired shots from his SUV.
Police chased after the man down Gratiot to the other side of the city. At 8 Mile, the man got out of the car and allegedly fired more shots at officers.
He was hit by return fire and taken to the hospital where he died. Both incidents are still under investigation. Many questions remain about the initial shooting and the incidents in the aftermath. Police Chief James Craig is expected to discuss the incident later today.
