DETROIT (WWJ) -- The Detroit Police Department is asking for tips from the community in the case of a non-fatal shooting near a high school on the city's east side.
A 42-year-old man was injured in the incident late on the night of Saturday, Feb. 11, in the area of Ryan Rd. and Robinwood, south of 8 Mile Rd.
According to investigators, the victim was walking the grounds of Pershing High School when he passed a group of people.
Someone in that group — described only as a male — fired a shot, police said, striking the victim.
The suspect, along with four other males, then fled the scene on foot.

On Thursday, police said the victim remains in the hospital where he's being treated for a gunshot wound.
As the investigation continues, police are hoping someone in the public will recognize the suspect and his associates, who were caught on a surveillance camera.
Anyone who can identify the people pictured, or who has any other information relevant to this case, is asked to call the DPD's 11th Precinct at 313-596-1140 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak Up (1-800-773-2587). As always, those who contact Crime Stoppers will remain 100% and will not be required to speak to police or to testify in court.
