
DETROIT (WWJ) -- Police are trying to gain more information from the public after a man was shot several times while he tried to steal a car outside a Detroit gas station.
According to the Detroit Police Department. the incident happened on Tuesday, July 5, at approximately 4:05 a.m. in the parking lot of a gas station located in the 19300 block of W. Seven Mile Rd.
A 20-year-old man attempted to steal an older model of a blue Chevy HR, police say. That's when police say the owner of the car pulled out a weapon and fired several shots, striking the man.
Afterward, officials said both suspects forced the victim out of the vehicle and fled the scene.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and is being treated for his injury.
The owner of the car as well as the alleged shooter is described as a man in his 30s, 5’7” and 220 lbs. He has short hair and a thin mustache. He was last seen wearing a blue baseball cap, a white T-shirt and black Nike shorts, armed.
The second suspect is described as a male in his 30s, 5’9 and 170 lbs. He has short hair, a mustache and a beard. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a white T-shirt, black pants and gray gym shoes.
