(WWJ) Detroit Police are searching for a man and woman accused of opening fire on a city firetruck.
The Detroit Fire Department received a call for service around 9:40 Saturday evening in the area of Oakman and Dexter. They activated their overheard light and sirens, and began to exit the fire station.
A “dark colored Chevy Sedan”—possibly a Cobalt or a Cruze—was blocking their path from exiting the driveway. They used the fire engine’s air horn and the car moved out of the way. As the firetruck drove past the suspect’s vehicle, they heard shots and discovered the firetruck had been struck.
No injuries were reported.
The suspect’s car was last seen traveling westbound on Oakman Blvd. from Dexter.
The driver is described as a black man with a medium afro, last seen wearing an orange shirt or jersey. The passenger was described as a black woman, with a light complexion last seen wearing a turquoise top.
Five shell casings were recovered from the scene.
Anyone with information on the crime is encouraged to call the Detroit Police Department’s 10th Precinct at (313) 596-1040 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak Up.
